THE FAI’s (Football Association of Ireland) probe into match-fixing allegations against Athlone Town is likely to be completed within days.
But competitions director and compliance officer Fran Gavin refused to be drawn on possible sanctions that could arise.
Gavin said: “We are currently coming close to finalising our investigation into Athlone. “We have some more information to be gathered and to be sent to us and we are waiting on that. Once that’s all received, we will put it together and be out with it as quick as possible.
“The report is a document internally for us and then we will take whatever we want out of that, the conclusions.”
FAI CEO John Delaney said last month that they would publish details of how Athlone got a First Division licence, given statements in April from the association confirmed they were monitoring the club in pre-season.
